Student Stories: Training with Irena

Student Irena Tlalka is having a blast learning how to ride. Not only is she learning the fundamentals but she’s learning how to wheelie!

Starting with the basics and moving on to bigger and bigger bikes. Some day, I will raise that front wheel and ride it up. Ike DeJager with his infinite impatient patience, teaching us to wheelie up. Sooner or later, it will happen. So much depends on the right timing. Once again an amazing day. I am getting better on sand and my enjoyment of riding trails is growing. Thank you Ike, I hope that I didn't disappoint you too much today -- sooner or later it will all come together.

Ike DeJager is getting me ready for the Mojave desert race 2030. The first lesson is how to park a bike in the sand -- nailed it!!! Getting out of the parking position was a little more challenging. Other skills: picking up the bike after a fail, nailed it!!! This KLX300 can be tamed and the rider can improve. An excellent day today with time on the sand, on the track, and my personal favorite on the single track trails in the woods. Rain or shine, Ike DeJager, you are one awesome dude!
